Oncology fellowships

Nursing Oncology Fellowship Program

This Fellowship is a 16-week program that combines classroom, computer web-based training, simulation and preceptorship. It integrates inpatient and ambulatory care for oncology patients.

Advanced Clinical Provider – Radiation Oncology Fellowship

Northwell’s ACP Fellowship Programs are open to Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners who wish to obtain the advanced knowledge and technical skills necessary to provide world-class care in a variety of medical sub-specialties. The fellowship will provide an opportunity to learn and train in a structured, mentored environment to become extraordinary healthcare providers in a chosen field.

Luz has enjoyed a long and successful career at Northwell Health, ultimately joining our oncology team to challenge herself and help more patients. Since joining the Monter Cancer Center, she has steadily advanced her career. Luz earned her degree in Business Administration while taking advantage of Northwell’s tuition reimbursement benefits. “This has been one of the most exciting times in my career and every day I look forward to what the day will bring,” she says.“It’s exciting to feel that you are a part of something great!”

Before joining Northwell, Smitha Chacko worked as a hospital clinical pharmacist – a position that introduced her to oncology. That experience is what allowed her to make the leap into cancer care with us. “I love working in oncology at Northwell,” she says. “That’s because Northwell has the most innovative treatments, research and equipment, as well as employees who are knowledgeable in utilizing all these resources.”

Tony Philip

Current position:

Medical Oncology Disease Management Disease Team Lead, Musculoskeletal Oncology, Northwell Health Cancer Institute

Dr. Tony Philip has wanted to work in oncology care ever since he was in college. Like many of our employees, it was a personal experience with a relative that spurred his interest. He’s seen the evolution of cancer care at Northwell evolve over the years and have several experts in their field. “Having colleagues who you can turn to for advice and mentorship is an amazing part of being here. We also have a fellowship program so we get to teach future oncologists,” he says.
